Our Veterans & Military Deserve a Voice They Can Trust

America, Your Help is Needed

Dear American Patriot,

Trevor Drown (I)

As a conservative who loves my country, I am appalled at the direction our country is heading. In less than three months, many of us will be picking our leaders to send to Washington D.C.  With more than 150,000 of our brave men and women in combat, it is important they and their families have one of their own in the US Senate.  There are seven members of the Senate who are combat veterans. The last combat any of them saw was the Vietnam War.  Only two combat veterans from this current war are running for the Senate: CIA Special Operations Officer Gary Berntsen in New York, and myself.

My Special Forces A Team served in the Helmand Province in Afghanistan in 2006.  We were the first Americans to establish an A Camp. Four years later, we have many thousands of our military conducting ground combat operations every day.  Our men and women in harm’s way deserve to have someone watching their back who knows what they are going through.

I ask you to help ‘our’ campaign replace Blanche Lincoln as the next Senator of Arkansas.  Please forward to as many family members, friends, veterans and others that care about our country and ask them to help us too.  If we all pitch in together, we will get our country back on track and restore the values and the honor that this current administration is bent on destroying.

Thank you,

Trevor Drown
Russellville, Arkansas

My position on the National Defense of this Country

Trevor Drown, in the Helmand Province Afghanistan

The National Defense of this country is the primary function of our government as directed in the Constitution. It is the responsibility of the National Government to ensure the safety and well being of our citizens from foreign agents. Presently, the lack of security on our porous borders is a clear and present danger and threatens our way of life. The United States is not the world’s police force.

Operational command under member countries of the United Nations is unacceptable. When war is necessary it should be declared in accordance with Constitution and only for the protection of our nation and our citizens. Every effort should be made to fight the war, to win and return home with honor and all Americans accounted for. Politicians, who have never served cannot effect the battlefield while sitting in Washington D.C. The use of US Forces to occupy a country for years and then attempt to stabilize the government is not the job of the military and should not be the responsibility of this country.

Terrorists captured on any battlefield or in this country should be tried in military tribunals. I oppose the closing of the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay. Our soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines deserve the best we can provide. I support the development and purchase of the best personal protection equipment we can develop. I am for modernization and updating equipment. However, ask any soldier who has ever put boots on the ground and they will tell you they do not get enough training time. I will look to the Defense Department for answers on how they will rectify this. We must invest in our individuals first.

My position on our Veterans

With Vietnam War Veterans in Washington D.C.

Millions of America’s sons and daughters have sworn the Oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. They have selflessly served and have protected us for generations. There is no greater calling than selfless service.

Once members of the military leave the active service honorably they enter Veteran status. They continue to deserve our appreciation and we must ensure funding is adequate to honor their service with respect. I will seek out veteran groups to ensure they have a voice in Congress and their needs are met. For retired and disabled Veterans I will support and sponsor the funding of a fair cost-of-living increases. I will work closely with the Veterans Administration to ensure their needs are met and to resolve medical issues like Agent Orange, PTSD and Mental Health.

My position on POW’s and those still MIA-Speaking at Rolling Thunder May 30, 2010

This issue will be one of my highest priorities. More than 90,000 Americans are still unaccounted for from previous wars. One of them is my great uncle.

Arkansas has 18 of its own sons who have never returned from the Vietnam War. The warriors of our “Greatest Generation” are

Rolling Thunder

entering their twilight years, and it is unacceptable that there are loved ones still Missing in Action or are Prisoners of War.

There are many families and friends still waiting for closure. They deserve an answer about those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. I will do everything I can as a US Senator to ensure that we do not have a forgotten generation. There will be answers to the many questions which so many in Washington D.C. have ignored.

One final and important thought

Our effort is a worthwhile one. We face a difficult time in our country, unlike anything many of us have ever seen. This is the time for serious leadership to step up, make the hard choices and return us to the values and integrity that are the foundation of our great country. The sacrifice of more than 1.3 million Americans on battlefields around the world cannot be forgotten and should account for something. I ask that you help me make sure this does not happen.

Sincerely,
Trevor Drown
