U.S. Senate candidate Trevor Drown (Independent), a former Green Beret and recipient of the Bronze Star, spent his Saturday campaigning in the Hot Springs area. His first stop was at Molly O’Briens in Hot Springs Village (HSV) and his grand finale for the day was held just a few miles away from the village. At the grand finale, about 100 or so guest came to hear Drown speak and to ask their questions, as well as to hear good patriotic and gospel music, and to pig out on the buffet that consisted of delicious grilled Hot Dogs, mouth watering chicken, pizza, and homemade cookies, cake, and cupcakes. The Drown campaign and his volunteers provided plenty of ice cold bottled water and cold soda pops, and mingled with the crowd to ensure that no one was getting over-heated in the hot Arkansas weather. Fortunately, a little rain earlier in the day helped to keep the jubilant crowd somewhat cooled down throughout the event.
Moving through the crowd, ARCN selected two guest for short interviews. First up was Henry Delgado of Colorado. At the time of the interview, we were not aware that Henry is from Colorado. Henry is in Arkansas visiting his sister Pamela. When asked what he thought about Trevor Drown, Henry said; “I’ve never been one to automatically cast my vote for the party line. To me, principles are far more important than the party. So I look at my vote going to a candidate that best represents my principles and values, and Trevor’s are basically a perfect match with my own. The one difference is that I do not support the death penalty and I think Trevor does. I believe that Jesus basically abolished the death penalty when he protected and forgave the woman who was about to be stoned for adultery, a known violation of the ten commandments. People don’t get the death penalty anymore for breaking the Sabbath either. He is pro-life though, meaning he believes in protecting the innocent, especially the unborn, which is the number one issue I look at when deciding who I’ll vote for. Remember, I don’t live in Arkansas so I can’t vote here, but if I could, Trevor would be at the top of my list.” ARCN then asked Henry if he was bothered by Drown running as an Independent? Henry replied, “It’s not a problem for me. I have looked at the other two candidates to kind of help my sister out since she recently had bypass surgery, and like I said, Trevor is closely aligned with my own principles and Pam’s. I did point out to Pam that I believe the Republican running for Senate is a RINO, at least he was when George Bush was president. With his past voting record being so in favor of big government spending and massive debt, I can’t understand why anyone in Arkansas would want to believe he’s their water walker. I’ve got twenty-four grandchildren and I am deeply concerned about their futures. The best way to give myself comfort is to cast my vote for someone who actually believes in the Constitution. Otherwise, the status quo, made up of Democrats like Pelosi and RINO’s will maintain power and when that happens, everyone else loses.”
Janet Price, our second guest, referred to Drown as a ‘big ol teddy bear’, saying, “You would think he would have this kick butt attitude being that he was part of an elite fighting force, but it turns out he’s more of a big ol teddy bear. I was really impressed with his willingness to listen instead of just being heard.” Asked if she intended to vote for Drown she replied, “Of course! I can’t think of a better person to serve us. I’m sick and tired of politicians. It’s time we vote for public servants. Faithful public servants! Politicians, especially incumbents like Lincoln, Boozman, and Ross, Snyder, Berry, soon forget about their constituents as soon as they unpack their boxes in Washington DC or win re-election. None deserve to win re-election or higher office. Once they do, they immediately begin getting a self interest philosophy going on in their brains and from there, they refuse to listen to the voice of their constituents. If they do listen to anyone, it’s usually to the ones who contribute the big bucks to their campaigns.” When asked why she’s not supporting Congressman John Boozman, she replied, “Boozman is no better than Congressman Ross. Boozman added almost $5 Trillion in debt during the Bush administration, or perhaps more, and I’m wondering why he seems to be getting a pass from the RINO controlled tea party’s. Most of the tea party’s in Arkansas are not RINO controlled, but a few definitely are. Otherwise they would not be behind Boozman.”
Price continued, “If Drown wins, and if he turns out to be a Lincoln or Ross, or even a Bush admin Boozman, you can bet your sweet ass I’ll be at his first town hall meeting, waving my signs, and giving him a piece of my mind. But I don’t believe that the man Trevor Drown is like that. I believe he will be loyal to the Constitution, to our country, and to his constituents. He’s got young children, and I’m sure he’s just as concerned with the direction of our country as I am, and as everyone else who is out here in the heat today daring to make a difference.” Because Janet mentioned Congressman Ross, we asked her how she felt about Republican Beth Anne Rankin. Janet smiled and said, “I really like Beth Anne. She’s so sweet. I believe she’s a serious contender, and she has a platform that attracts me, and unless something goes wrong, I will definitely vote for Rankin on November 2nd. In the primary, I backed Republican Glenn Gallas, but since Beth Anne won the primary, I think she will do a great job and will listen to her constituents too. It was sad that they didn’t run for different offices because we could have used both Rankin and Gallas this year.”
What was clear throughout the event was that many crowd members believe this November to be the last and only chance of getting America back to her constitutional roots. It is also clear that they have grown tired of incumbents who refuse to listen, refuse to read the bills, and vote against the will of their constituents to tow the party line.
UPDATED: Part two added. The video’s below is part one and two of an interview ARCN conducted with Trevor Drown. Please bare with us as we get the final part completed and posted. By the way, the questions I asked Trevor in the interview were user submitted questions and is why I read the questions to Trevor.
