Message from Trevor Drown; “The Last Month has Been a Great One, Thank You!”

*Please note that an Independent is NOT a third party as many claim it to be. In fact, our FIRST elected President, George Washington, was elected as an Independent. Therefore, the Independent candidate is just as American as apple pie.

The following letter is used with permission. It is also inside the Trevor Drown August Newsletter that you can download here in pdf format.

By Trevor Drown, Arkansas’ Independent Candidate for U.S. Senate

Dear Arkansans and American Patriots,

Trevor:Click to Enlarge

The journey to get to this point has been long and eventful. With the help of thousands of volunteers we have put out over 150,000 of these newspapers all over Arkansas. I thank you for this and ask you to press even harder to get our message out. We have not gotten here without some challenges. Like you, I occasionally hear two negative messages. The first is, “How much money do you have?” I also hear, “You are going to need millions of dollars in order to compete.”

How little do they understand. It is not about money. It is not about what you are able to spend. It is about message, desire and a willingness to go the distance with whatever resources we have. We have never had the millions that others have spent. We didn’t need it. We have been wise and frugal with the money you have sent us. Every time we needed money it showed up. From the gentle lady that folded her last three dollars into my hand in Mena to the many checks for $5, $10 and $20 that have come to our Post Office Box. The reality is, for the first time in more than 30 years there is an independent on the ballot. It has taken us less than $12,000 to get to this point. Many have spent millions and are not here. That is what a focused effort by dedicated people will get you.

What they don‟t realize or take into account is the value of people. The value in someone who truly cares so much for their country they will make the time to send an email about our effort, send a $5 check or hand out a newspaper like this one. So many people are spending 15 minutes to many hours with people across Arkansas. They drop off newspapers, encourage people to register to vote, attend events on our behalf and get the message out. This value can never be truly understood or measured. One thing is for sure, it would be a major mistake to be disrespected or discounted.

I am hearing reports all over the state of people pushing our message day after day. I recently went to South Arkansas and was happily surprised at the warm reception I received in Texarkana, Magnolia, Hope, Hot Springs, Camden, El Dorado and so many other cities. Times are tough for the common person and I will not allow myself to be bought off by PAC’s Special Interest Groups and Wall Street Corporations. What for? If I have to go to Washington owing my very existence to these outside groups then what is the sense? I can not be trusted to have your best interests at heart. No politician can.

The second negative comment I hear is, “Split the Vote and Blanche Lincoln will stay in. Do you want that on your conscience?” This usually comes from people who are afraid and uninformed. They fail to understand, replacing Senator Lincoln is not the solution to anything. It buys you more of the same. You just change the people and maybe the political party and we are back to the same thing. The problem right now in our country is every politician in Washington D.C. has to answer to someone else first before the people of their state or congressional district. First to consider are the political parties followed by every special interest group that has donated to their campaign so they could get or keep the job. They also answer to groups who push the political party’s agenda. You have no idea who these people are, what state they are from and who is funding them. Lastly, as long as it doesn’t violate the interest of the above groups they listen to you. At some point this has to stop and I believe in Arkansas we have reached that point.

I usually hear the “Split the Vote” argument combined with the “no money” and “no one has ever heard of you”. Toss in a few, “You are not doing well in the polls” too. One cannot have it both ways. If I don’t have a chance because no one has heard of me and I am low in the polls, how on earth would I split the vote? Surely with no money I am not a threat. Or am I?

Although, some may think it, I never hear that I have little experience. That would be a mistake. Look at what experience has gotten us so far. What I don’t hear is their candidate, the one they are worried that I will take votes away is a better choice to represent Arkansas. That puzzled me until I realized two things, his record precedes him and the Arkansas GOP is pushing that message trying to scare people into voting republican. After all it is about power and control by the Arkansas Republican Party. This is the same political party that could not find a anyone to run against Senator Mark Pryor in the last election. They also failed to run anyone against the Attorney General and State Treasurer this year as well. Keep in mind in the last 132 years there has only been one Republican as a US Senator in Arkansas. Somehow, they have never been the conservative voice in Arkansas. It would be a major embarrassment to be shut out yet again.

Here is the problem they have. I am not quitting, I am not going away, and I plan on taking this to the end. Too many people have told me we are on the right path. I have been told countless times this effort and journey is a worthwhile one. It is not just about Arkansas. It is also about the direction the country is going. Somehow, somewhere, someone has to push the envelope and be the voice of the people without owing anything to any special group or party. In Arkansas, right now it makes the most sense. We have the largest group of voters that are independent of the two party system in the country. Over 92 percent of you do not trust what the two party system is doing. The real vote splitters will be the few conservatives and small government believers, who follow the lead and listen to the less than 60,000 members of the Arkansas Republican Party.

So don’t be scared of sending Senator Lincoln back to Washington D.C. If you vote principal and conviction, you will be one of the 1.4 million registered voters in Arkansas who want to see freedom, liberty, and small government return. Only then can we work on securing our Constitutional protection from an over-reaching Federal Government. Why, should less than 120,000 members of the two major parties decide what the other 1.4 million do?

I wish you a pleasant summer.
God Bless you and yours,
Trevor Drown
