An ARCN Exclusive
By Caleb Kinley, Editor
Hot Springs, AR-Trevor Drown, the young and fiery Independent from Russellville visited Hot Springs last Thursday night to share his vision and ended up providing the enthusiastic crowd with a lengthy question and answer session. Although the Senate hopeful limited his introduction and speech to about 20 minutes, Drown was at the Hawgz Pizza Pub on Airport Road for at least four hours. Being the concerned citizen patriot and patient man he is, he took the necessary time to make sure that no one left the Pub without having their questions answered first. The former Green Beret and combat war veteran could easily yank your ankles out through your ears or your eyes out through your little toe, but you would never know it because his demeanor is kind and gentle, his handshake firm, and when he talks about his belief in God and how government should operate versus how it currently functions, he’s incredibly believable.
However, Drown’s heart-felt desire to become Arkansas’ next U.S. Senator didn’t and doesn’t come without its share of obstacles. His first obstacle, placed there by the state, forced Drown to gather a minimum of 10,000 valid signatures just to get on the November ballot as an Independent. Drown, and his army of volunteers easily cleared the first obstacle with a whopping 14,000+ signatures. The second obstacle is that Drown must get more votes than the 18 year D.C. veteran, incumbent Democrat Senator Blanche Lincoln. Lincoln barely made it by Bill Halter in the primary. Drown’s third obstacle is 10 year D.C. veteran, Congressman John Boozman, the Republican from Louisiana who currently represents Arkansas’ third congressional district.
The obstacles aside, Drown said, “I’m running because the concerned citizens of Arkansas asked me to run to get a genuine conservative representing them in the U.S. Senate for a change. The number one complaint I get while on the road is that the constituents know their current representatives are not listening, and the disgruntled taxpayers just aren’t going to take it anymore. But that’s what we get when we keep voting in career politicians. If we continue to vote in career politicians, the only things that are going to change is the amount of taxes we have to pay which will undoubtedly increase to cover the ever expanding size of government, an increase of lost jobs in the private sector, more failing businesses, the disappearance of the middle class, more home foreclosures, a loss of freedoms, and the list could literally go on and on.” Not to mention the new health care mandate that will force citizens to purchase health insurance; or else“, he added.
During the question and answer session, ARCN asked Drown about the secret bills being passed by the U.S. Senate. Drown replied, “To my knowledge, the secret bills were first exposed back in 2008 when South Carolina Senator Jim DeMint and Oklahoma Senator Tom Coburn exposed this deplorable practice. In 2008, the passage of secret bills put the taxpayers on the hook for over $9 Billion. Senator DeMint recently came forward once again in reference to even more secret bills being passed in the Senate without debate, without amendments, with no roll call vote, with no congressional scorecard, and written by secret authors. I’m not sure if Senator Lincoln has cast her vote for a secret bill or not. I guess that’s why they call them secret bills. But if she has voted on secret bills that increased taxes on us Arkansans, she should resign from office immediately, as well as Senator Pryor if he too has voted on secret bills. The only way I would even consider voting for a secret bill would be if there were an immediate National Security threat or emergency. And then I would need a guarantee that the bill would not raise taxes on Arkansans or deprive Arkansans or any American of their inalienable rights.”
Don Little of Malvern asked, “Do you believe that our Congressmen and Senators should read the bills before voting on the bill? “Yes, I do,” answered Drown. If I were a senator now and I didn’t read a bill before voting on it, I would be doing a major disservice to the constituents who placed their trust in me. The practice of not reading the bills first is just not the right thing to do when you’re hired through the ballot box and are supposed to be transparent and representing people who count on you to watch out for their interest and not the interest of special interest groups“, he added.
Stanley Carr of Hot Springs chimed in on Arizona Governor Jan Brewer and the new law concerning illegal immigration that is now under attack by the Obama administration through the Justice Department. Stanley asked, “Do you support the illegal immigration law in Arizona?” “Yes, said Drown. I am a firm believer in states rights and national sovereignty. Besides, the federal government has consistently ignored the problem threatening Arizona and other states for years. The governments own refusal to act on border security jeopardized the safety and well being of the great citizens of Arizona. Because the federal government refused to follow its own laws, turning a blind eye on the number of people crossing our borders, illegal immigrants from terror supported countries have entered America. Phoenix, Arizona has become the number two kidnapping capital in the world with Mexico City number one. It is Governor Brewers job to protect the citizens of Arizona from harm. So I believe since the federal government did not act, Brewer was forced to act for the sake and safety of the population, which includes legal immigrants, and to help secure our nations National Security.”
An unidentified man holding what appeared to be a bottle of Bud Light beer walked up to Drown during the q&a and asked him about taxes. Drown, not phased by the slight interruption, replied, “I will work to find ways to lower the tax burden of Americans in the fairest way and I wouldn’t vote to raise taxes.” Apparently satisfied with Drown’s answer, the unidentified man then handed Drown a $20 bill and left the building.

Thanks for an outstanding article on the only true conservative candidate for U.S. Senate from Arkansas! As not only a Drown supporter but a mom who’s genuinely fearful about the increasingly corrupt govt., it’s nice to see a media outlet paying attention to the only grassroots candidate around. Too bad the other media outlets will only dance to the tunes of the crooked two-party system! Thanks again and continued success!
Nice Job Caleb – Mr. Drown is my choice for U.S. Senate. He will be a great asset in Washington to bring the country back to it’s christian roots and America will stand up and take notice.
From a concerned Christian, U.S. Citizen, Wife, Mother, Grandmother. I am handing out the newspaper for Trevor and have just arranged to insert 4,100 copies in our local paper. I hope everyone will get on board and help us get Trevor elected. God bless!
I am fascinated with this gentlemen’s story and his ability to actually gather enough signatures to get on the ballot and run his campaign for so little money. It speaks of leadership and respect as well as team-building by what many must consider a true grass-roots candidate.
Few people realize there is a small amount of the two party power elite that rule this country. Rarely, does a candidate like this have a chance. In Arkansas it appears that the people are not going to be satisified with the lessor of two evils, or the best of two bad choices. This November, I will proudly vote my convictions for a principled man and vote Trevor Drown.
I am still undecided in regards to whom will get my vote, but I do like Trevor’s stance on the secret senate bills. The very fact that Trevor brought this issue up just blew me away. I have yet to hear any politician or candidate bring up this important subject. We need to get to the bottom of secret senate bills. As far as we know, the very people writing these bills could very well be those who hate America and our way of life.
Excellent article Caleb. Thanks for being at the event and I too will be passing the link around.
Great story! As one of Trevor’s army of volunteers, it is a relief to see that we are getting noticed more and more by the media. Most of the outlets are, in my opinion, afraid of covering him in fear of what could happen. Thank you again for the coverage.
Very well done article, Caleb – I’m passing the link around. Keep up the good work!
